I second this for EVERY SINGLE FANDOM. You guys ruin everything for others. Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Team Fortress 2, Harry Potter, and now something so incredible as Sherlock Holmes?

I disagree with you lot :V People can draw what they want to draw.
Whether it’s shipping Sherlocks or Abraham Lincoln x George Washington or Jesus x Satan or whatever they want to do.
Doesn’t harm me, and if anything pisses me off then I just don’t look at it. It is kinda hard to piss me off though.
Many people dislike fandoms, but I find them mostly harmless. People can enjoy what they want to. If I find something on my dashboard, which I’m not interested in too often, I tumblrblock it.
This is very good art, and I appreciate it for that.
So, why so angry about something which in the grand scheme of things, doesn’t really matter?

“Just shit on the name of Arthur Conan Doyle”. Conan Doyle was a man ahead of his time and was among the people who spoke against Oscar Wilde’s imprisionement. Even if he didn’t intend for Holmes and Watson to have a romantic relationship, he would hardly feel offended by this lovely piece of art.

I have nothing against Holmes/Adler, but it’s amazing how it is acceptable to ship Holmes with someone whom he barely knew, whom was deeply in love with another man, whose wedding Holmes attended in a very good mood and whom he was explicitly said not to be in love with, but if we ship him with someone he considered his only friend, who was the only person capable of making him lose control, whose engagement left Holmes extremely depressed and who spent his whole marriage leaving his poor wife alone for days at a time to be with Holmes, we are RUINING THE FANDOM!!!!!!oneeleven
People who think like this don’t ruin the fandom, they ruin the world. This kind of thinking is the reason why until last year many of my friends could not get married, the reason why some kids grow up feeling inferior and end up comiting suicide.No, I am not exagerating. I actually know people who grew to accept themselves because of GLBT characters, and who used them to make their families accept them too, so don’t give me the “gee, it’s just fiction” bullshit.
But sure, the only things that matters is that we are are forcing you to stare at gay art against your will. It is not like you can choose whom to follow and not to follow on tumblr. *Roll eyes*.
Seriously, if you don’t like slash, just don’t follow people who draw/reblog slash, and leave the ones who do like it alone.
What kills me is that this ridiculous debate had to take attention from the lovely art that was posted.
As a designer and illustrator (more the former than the latter) I can honestly tell you that whatever you draw is not wasted talent. I get paid to do something I love, and you know how I practice to be a good designer? I make slash fanart. I make slash graphics. I look at other artists’ slash fanart and get inspired. Slash. Slash. Slash.
And it makes me better as a professional and it makes me happy because it’s a hobby. I don’t like football, but if that’s what you like to do in your free time I won’t close my eyes and yell “FOR GOD’S SAKE THAT’S DISGUSTING. FOOTBALL IS THE DEVIL. STOP PLAYING, YOU’RE RUINING EVERYTHING FOR US”. And if you do… Well, fuck you.
There are plenty of groups on deviantArt that respectfully decline slash work and post only general fanart for all adaptations. You could follow/watch those. No need to come to the slash side of the fandom just to say you don’t like it here. If you don’t want to be in the gay room, we don’t need you. Go be happy somewhere else.
Also, the “Holmes Is Not Gay” debate is over a hundred years old. Are your purist brains still that small?
